Construction projects – new buildings & show homes<\/h3>\n

Piranha has been taking photographs of various building projects across the UK for Funding Affordable Homes<\/a> – a property investment company, over many years. This recent commission is of the interior and exterior of some of their construction projects including new buildings and show homes.<\/p>\n

A mix of UK locations<\/h3>\n

This week\u2019s properties to be photographed were in Aldershot and Docklands London on one day, and various projects on the Isle of Wight later in the week. There will shortly be another photo shoot in Rochdale in July.<\/p>\n

The photography brief<\/h3>\n

Once the written brief has been received and discussed with the client, then the photographer is left to arrange and take the required photographs at each site. We ensure creative photographs as well as more traditional establishing shots. The client is confident with this arrangement as with the advance planning put in place, they always receive the photographs they need for marketing and annual reports<\/a>, without needing to spend the time or expense of having to send their own team out to oversee the photo shoots.<\/p>\n

Coverage on the day<\/h3>\n

On arrival at the construction sites the photographer liaises with the project managers on each site about the best locations for the photography and how to access them. He also checks and ensures that the people working on site are wearing the correct PPE kit with the most up to date logos on their jackets and hats.<\/p>\n

Sometimes it\u2019s necessary to ask the builders and contractors to move their equipment and people to the best places for a few minutes while a photograph is taken. If necessary we download the photographs on site and email them to the client so that they can see the photography happening in real time, and check that they are happy with the content of the images.<\/p>\n

Spectacular views<\/h3>\n

The views from the new residential skyscraper in the Docklands in London are incredible, looking down the Thames on one side and across Canary Wharf on the other. The building is a mix of private flats and affordable housing.<\/p>\n

The photographs Piranha has taken over the years have been documenting the progress that the building projects are making and later show the finished show homes. The photography covers the rooms and furnishings in context and is an accurate representation of what a family would expect when moving in to one of the new homes.<\/p>\n

\"Building<\/p>\n

Photographic equipment<\/h3>\n

For the photo shoots we use a wide-angle lens with good control over perspective, accurate colour, sharpness and vertical lines. The 21mm Super Elmar from Leica is a perfect choice. It is small and therefore very portable (important when on a high ladder or builders crane), highly accurate in colour and sharpness, corner to corner, which is unusual. There is no smearing of the image either at the edges due to chromatic or other aberrations. The Leica lens can also control any flare from reflections or sunshine remarkably well. We use several other Leica lenses too throughout the day to provide variety.<\/p>\n

Processing of photographs after the photo shoot<\/h3>\n

Once back in the office all images are downloaded and any post-production work completed, before creating a website of images, uploading to Piranha\u2019s secure server and forwarding to the client. Normally a full set of hi resolution jpegs are required and supplied by us promptly.<\/p>\n
